BBD_PS_X001_W1A3690
The Bratislava Puppet Theatre is a place of great importance, which not only entertains, provokes and inspires its spectators, but also boosts their spiritual development through theatrical and artistic methods. It strives to broaden cultural and social awareness of the audience and offers its members impulses to form and shape their opinions and abilities. Our theatre is a meeting point for artists as well as a venue for communication and social interaction, in which we focus on creating excellent quality on a high artistic and human level. The Bratislava Puppet Theatre is a fascinating place, which has the power to lead people towards tolerance and humanism through art.

How we started

Divadlo old
The Bratislava Puppet Theater was born on March 1, 1957 as the first independent stone puppet theater. It received the name - State Puppet Theater, the space - the former workers' house, the Youth Theater on Dunajská Street, and several enthusiasts from the field of amateur theater, who formed the basis of the artistic ensemble. It was created by the author of puppet plays, director Ján Ozábal, director Zdeněk Říha and artist Bohdan Slavík. The first premiere of the theater was the fairy tale About a Dog and a Cat based on the book by Josef Čapek. It was held on 17 April 1957.
